Orkun Koku (22-Feyenoord) moves to Benfica. The deal has already been finalized and the player has been spotted traveling to Portugal to undergo medical tests. The midfielder was linked to Tottenham Hotspur as recently as last month.
“Kokou is moving to Benfica,” European football transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano said on social media on March 9 (KST), “for a transfer 메이저놀이터 fee of 30 million euros ($41.5 billion) and a five-year contract until June 2028. The release clause (buyout) is €120 million (approximately KRW 167 billion).”
Kokou is a midfielder who has been with Feyenoord since making his professional debut in 2018. Capable of playing in both the second and third positions, he is described as a playmaking type who is adept at creating threatening chances with crisp passes that are backed up by excellent technique, including precise ball control. He’s also a goal scorer, capable of finishing himself in a pinch.
In fact, he exceeded expectations in his first season, scoring four goals and providing four assists in 12 official appearances despite being just 18 years old. Since then, he’s been a regular starter. In his five years at Feyenoord, he played 175 games in all competitions, scoring 32 goals and providing 27 assists.
Kokou was widely expected to leave the club last month when Arnie ‘Gusa’ Slott (44, Netherlands) was linked with the job as Spurs’ new manager. Locally, he was even included in Spurs’ best eleven for the new season.
However, Kokou’s move to Tottenham never happened as Slott stayed on. However, he recently received an “offer” from Benfica and is looking for a new challenge in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. Already, he has been photographed meeting fans at the airport as he prepares to leave for a medical.
