Gwangju defeated Suwon 2-0 in the 15th round of the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023 at Suwon Sports Complex on Nov. 28, thanks to Timo’s first goal in the 30th minute and Asani’s second goal in the 38th minute.
With the win in front of 1605 fans, Gwangju ended a seven-match winless streak and moved to eighth place in the league with 18 points (W5 D3 L7).
Suwon, on the other hand, suffered its fourth straight defeat and remained on 15 points (4W, 3D, 8L), losing ground to Gwangju for eighth place and dropping to ninth.
Gwangju fielded a 4-4-2 formation on the day. Kim Kyung-min wore the goalkeeping gloves, while Lee Min-ki, Ahn Young-gyu, Timo, and Doo Hyun-seok formed the defense. In the midfield, Jeong Jeong-hoon, Lee Sun-min, Jung Ho-yeon, and Asani were deployed, while Lee Hee-gyun and Thomas attacked the Suwon goal from the front.
Suwon lined up in a 3-4-3. Labor was in goal, while Jackson, Kim Hyun-hoon, and Choi Bo-kyung formed the back three. Jung Dong-ho, Park Joo-ho, Jung Jae-yong, and Lee Yong-yi were the midfielders. Jung Jae-yoon, Ras, and Jang Jae-woong rounded out the front three.
Playing in pouring rain, Suwon, who had lost their last three games in a row, started the match in the first 15 minutes by removing Jung Jae-yoon and Jang Jae-woong and introducing Lee Seung-woo and Murillo.

The deflection caused the ball to fly in a completely unexpected direction, forcing Labor to make a good save.
Spurred on, Gwangju continued to press Suwon. In the 43rd minute, Lee Soon-min’s surprise mid-range shot hit the post. After collecting the second ball that hit the post, Lee Soon-min tried to shoot again, but this time, Labor made the save.
