Kershaw threw seven innings of five-hit ball with two walks and nine strikeouts against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday (Sept. 9) at Great 먹튀검증 American Ball Park in Cincinnati. Behind Kershaw, the Dodgers won 6-0 to snap a four-game losing streak.
Kershaw walked leadoff hitter Kevin Newman in the top of the first inning, but a strikeout and a flyout ended the inning on just nine pitches. In the second inning, he gave up a leadoff single to Eli De La Cruz and a stolen base to put runners on the corners, but he got out of the jam with two strikeouts and a groundout.
Kershaw got a strikeout and a grounder to load the bases in the third, then gave up a double to Newman to put runners in scoring position once again, but struck out the next batter, Matt McLain, to end the inning. The fourth inning ended with a triple play. In the fifth, Kershaw was briefly shaken by a hit and a walk, but he got Newman to ground out to end the threat.
The biggest threat came in the sixth. Back-to-back singles to McLain and Jonathan India put runners on first and third with no outs, but Kershaw was unflappable. He got De La Cruz to ground out, Spencer Steer to fly out, and Tyler Stephenson to strike out to end the inning.
Kershaw returned to the mound in the seventh inning and worked a three-hit shutout with 10 pitches before retiring the side.
Kershaw has now pitched seven innings and nine strikeouts in two straight games, including a seven-inning performance against the New York Yankees on April 3. He continues to lead the Dodgers’ starting rotation with a team-high eight wins (four starts) and a 2.95 ERA in 13 appearances this season.
