(By Kwon Dong-hwan) ‘World Cup winner’ Alexis Sanchez (Brighton & Hove Albion) is set to cash in on a move to Liverpool.
“A deal for McAllister between Liverpool and Brighton is 95 percent complete,” Football Insider reported on Monday (Aug. 28).
McAllister is a “surprise star” whose price tag has skyrocketed in the past year. McAllister started playing for Brighton in 2019 and has gradually improved his game to become a first-team midfielder for the Premier League club.
However, because the Seagulls are a mid-table team in the Premier League, McAllister didn’t get a lot of attention, but the 2022 World 메이저사이트 Cup in Qatar catapulted him to the top of the global midfield.
Called up to the Argentina national soccer team ahead of the tournament, McAllister starred for the global soccer powerhouse and helped his country win their third World Cup title in a row.
McAllister followed up his World Cup success with 10 goals and two assists in 34 Premier League appearances this season, attracting interest from one of the world’s top clubs, Liverpool.
Following his World Cup stardom and being considered one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, his price tag skyrocketed.
Brighton paid just £7 million for McAllister in January 2019, but according to Argentine outlet Tyc Sports, Liverpool and Brighton have agreed a fee of £70 million ($114.3 million) for the player.
It’s not just the price tag that’s skyrocketed. Liverpool have promised to triple McAllister’s current salary at Brighton to match his fame and transfer fee.
“Liverpool are confident of signing Brighton star McAllister, offering him three times his current wages,” the publication said.
“The Reds have already offered McAllister’s agent and Manda £150,000 a week,” the report added, noting that McAllister is reportedly on £50,000 a week at Brighton.”
“Some Liverpool-savvy outlets have claimed the deal is 95% complete,” it added, “and McAllister will bid farewell to Brighton fans in the league final.”
Brighton finished sixth in the league this season and qualified for the UEFA Europa League.
After a successful year, Brighton and McAllister will conclude the 2022/23 season with a trip to Aston Villa in round 38 of the league on May 29 at 0:30pm.
