New York Yankees pitcher Domingo Hermann, who was suspended for 10 games for using an unspecified foreign substance, has appealed his suspension.
Hermann was ejected on May 17 after an umpire noticed a sticky substance on his palm while pitching against the Toronto Blue Jays. 안전놀이터 The umpire told reporters at the time, “His palm was very shiny and sticky from the foreign substance. It was the stickiest hand I’ve ever seen.” Hermann was immediately ejected.
The MLB office issued a 10-game suspension to Hermann the next day. Hermann did not appeal and accepted the suspension.
However, he has not appealed and is maintaining that he did not use a foreign substance. “I only used sweat and rosin powder. I didn’t use any other substances,” he said.
After serving his 10-game suspension, Hermann will soon return to the starting rotation. As reported by the New York Post on May 29, Hermann said in an interview ahead of his start against the San Diego Padres: “It’s summer, so I’m going to be sweating more. You’re going to pitch with sweat on your hands, and you’re going to get a better grip on the ball. That’s all,” he said, maintaining his innocence.
When asked why he didn’t appeal the suspension, he said, “It’s uncomfortable because I don’t know exactly what the problem is, and if it is, what is allowed,” adding, “I will continue to use rosin. But I would like to see a regulation on how much rosin is acceptable. I will only use it within that limit,” he said.
