“Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel is to blame for their title failure,” Mateusz Zammer told Germany’s Sky Sports on Wednesday (Aug. 23).
The Bavarians lost 1-3 to 스포츠토토 RB Leipzig in the 33rd round of the 2022-2023 Bundesliga on Nov. 21 at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
The Bavarians failed to pick up another point and remained on 68 points, while Borussia Dortmund, who played later in the day, moved to 70 points with a 3-0 win over FC Augsburg.
As Munich’s title hopes have been dashed, the club’s boardroom has been shaken up. First, chairman Oliver Kahn’s job was put on the table, and then coach Hasan Salahamidzic’s.
The German legend, who is close to both Salahamidzic and Kahn, disagreed, saying that Tuchel, not the board, should be held accountable.
Tuchel, who was appointed in the middle of the season, failed to live up to the hype. In response, Munich and German soccer legend Matthäus pointed out that “Tuchel led the team for two months and knocked them out of the title race. He should be held accountable for the loss of the title.”
Criticizing the manager, Mateusz added: “Kahn should stay. “It’s not about the transfer market,” he said, “it’s about the players and the manager. It’s the players and the manager.”
