Manchester United’s Anthony Martial could be on his way out of Old Trafford.
“Eric ten Haag’s United are ready to sell Marcial, who wants to sign for Unai Emery’s Aston Villa in the summer transfer window,” HITC reported on July 23.
Martial was once a highly touted prospect for 먹튀검증 United. Arriving at Old Trafford in 2015 for a staggering €60 million, he allayed fears with 11 goals and four assists in the league in his first season. It was a bonus that he won the Golden Boy award that year, which is given to the best European prospect.
He seemed to be on the right track. After faltering under Jose Mourinho, he came into his own under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and his talents as a striker came into full bloom, with a staggering 23 goals and 12 assists in the 2019-20 season alone.
But then he fell off a cliff. A sharp drop in form and frequent injuries in 2020-21 saw his form plummet. A loan spell at Sevilla last winter was his only hope of revival, but even there he failed to regain his form.
Now it’s time to turn things around. On the surface, his stats of eight goals and three assists in 27 games across all competitions this season don’t look too bad. However, the fact that a player earning £250,000 a week has been injured five times and has been in and out of the squad summarizes the desperation of his situation.
Eventually, he will be sold next season. His destination is likely to be Villa. According to the media, Marcial will go to Villa on loan for one season with a permanent transfer clause. Emery believes that Marcial, who can play both in the center and on the flanks, would be a good addition to the team.
United are also willing to sell Marcial. Marcial’s current contract runs until June 2024, so if they don’t sell him this summer, they risk losing him for nothing. At the very least, the Red Devils are planning to offload Martial this transfer window to preserve value.
