When my son was born, we had a used crib that was still good, but I didn’t like a few things, mostly that I just kept having to tighten screws and I didn’t like how much I had to work to get the slats to go down.
My friend recommended DaVinci’s 4-in-1. She actually said that it was one of the best baby cribs she had ever used. I really liked the crib when I saw it but was weary of the price.
Still, I didn’t want to keep using the old crib and figured it was time to upgrade anyway. I had even looked around at a few different cribs, and this one stood out because of its design and functionality as well as safety.
Review Round-up for DaVinci Kalani 4-in-1 Convertible Crib
It looks Handsome but I have my Reservation
I definitely don’t like cribs with a lot of cam locks, and the Kalani only has a few, which makes it easy to unfold and break down into whatever I need at the moment.
The wood makes the crib incredibly handsome. It really shines and impresses everyone who comes to visit. I also wasn’t sure initially how it was able to function as a 4-in-1. It took me a while to figure it out.
After a careful review, I managed to figure out how all the functionality have been designed to work. So, we’ll be able to use this bed for many years, which suits the price tag it fetches.
Easy to Assemble
There are a few things I really like about this crib. For one, it was really easy to assemble although I had to be very careful. Wood can scratch and chip easily, but the materials of the crib held up even when I accidentally banged it on my son’s dresser as I was moving stuff around.
So that was a real positive. I was able to put it together myself in an hour and loved the outcome. The espresso color of the wood really brings all of the other pieces in the room together and fits the personality of my baby boy.
All of the parts were easy to put together, and when I did finish, the crib stood up perfectly and was quite sturdy. That’s already a step in the right direction from my old crib.
Multiple Height Setting
DaVinci’s crib also has multiple height setting, a feature that is usually found only among the best baby cribs. While I’m not short, my daughter is still a teenager and loves to help with the baby.
The height setting is helpful which allows my daughter to operate the crib and make it easy to pick him up or put him down for a nap without having to fuss over how high the railings are.
Designed for Maximum Safety
The crib also has springs, which is better than slats. Overall, the bed is very sturdy and safe. There aren’t any moving parts or areas where a baby can stick their fingers in and get pinched.
I really don’t like how slat cribs work, so I’m happy that DaVinci went with a more solid design. It just makes me worry about what could happen if he steps the wrong way or falls through. I just like the way that the crib is designed for more safety and control.
Even some of the best cribs I have seen do not come with toddler rails, but DaVinci saves you some money by including that with the crib. At the end of my DaVinci Kalani review, I was convinced in that I don’t think there are too many high quality cribs like this one.
An Investment that Last Few Years
If you do plan on getting a convertible crib, I definitely think that DaVinci Kalani can stand the test of time. It’s been four months since I bought this crib, and it’s worked perfectly.
I can’t wait for my son to grow so I can change the bed around and see how well it works as a day bed. From what I have read, the bed can last many years.
My Verdict for DaVinci Kalani 4-in-1 Crib
I will say that DaVinci does charge a high price for any accessories to go along with the bed. I understand why the bed is a little bit pricey because it converts to a sleigh bed, day bed and full size bed, but I don’t think that the accessories are worth the cost.
So, what is your bottomline? Do you think you DaVinci Kalani 4-in-1 crib has enough to offer for the high price tag it fetches? In any case, if you are buying a crib, don’t forget about the bedding set and the crib skirt.
